Teachers and students stayed in their partners’ families.
During preparations for Swedish colleagues’ visit in school 12 was held a competition for participating in the work of Byelorussian-Swedish NIX group. For the competition students filled in “Questionnaire RU.doc” and had an interview in English. A good command of spoken and written English was obligatory as English was a working language in the group.
After the competition the students who became the members of Byelorussian group had a preparing course with the trainer working with teens Zhanna Dolzhenko (NGO Kalegium).
This course included trainings for the group strengthening, self-assurance and so on.
When the Swedish partners came Nadezhda Avsievich became the leader of the preparing the group on “from peer to peer” program. On the trainings students played role games, during mini-lections they got acquainted with peer education methods, learnt about planning and holding meetings with a teen group.
There were made 6 small groups with 2 young leaders in each (one Swede and one Byelorussian). Each team prepared for the meeting with teens by themselves. And on the 1st of February each team organized one drug prevention meeting with students from school 12.
All students were satisfied with the activity.
During free time our Swedish friends had an excursion around the city, visited children’s art school, met members of NGO Kalegium and students who used in their work methodic “from peer to peer”. NIX group plan to visit Baldone (Latvia) in the spring 2007 and takes part in the Health Week in Lerum upper secondary school (Sweden) in September 2007, where they will organize different types of prophylactic work with students.
